Description:

Adds a kemetic culture, two industrial/ultratech Egyptian-inspired factions, many custom namers, a starting scenario, and a bunch of patches. Additional integration for More Religious Origins, Kemetic Apparel, Kemetic Decorations, and Ancient Rim – Oriental/Desert Edition (Continued).

That’s right, back again with another one. This one took a frankly ridiculous amount of research. I literally edited some Wikipedia pages[en.wikipedia.org] to add the Anglicization of ancient Egyptian, that’s how much research I put into this. Initially, it was just going to be at about the level of my Aztec mod, but then I decided that I wanted a Kemetic playthrough and made a bunch of other stuff.

Culture

Added custom pawn names (972 female names, 1322 male names, and 616 surnames), custom deity names, custom festival names, and custom leader titles. If you have Roo’s HD Dreadlock Hairstyles and/orRoo’s Birthmarks and Blemishes by the amazing Rooboid, then dreads/braids will be the most common hairstyle and birthmarks and blemishes will be options for pawns.

Note: Ancient Egypt was a very culturally diverse place, especially since it lasted for several millennia! Names from Ancient Egypt, Kush/Nubia, Greece, Persia, Assyria, and Rome were included to reflect this multicultural history.

Note note: some ancient Egyptian pharaohs seem to have entered into the world’s longest name contest, so some pawns may have ridiculously long names.

Factions

Added two factions that are ultratech level, but use the Outlander pawnKinds and attack groups, because I didn’t want them to be too overpowered. Based on Upper Egypt (Nekhbet, the vulture goddess) and Lower Egypt (Wadjet, the cobra goddess). They will only spawn in the Arid Shrubland, Desert, Extreme Desert, Tropical Rainforest, and Tropical Swamp. They also hate each, because that makes it more interesting. Genies and Impids have a small chance of spawning.

There’s a lot of possible integrations for modded xenotypes, biomes, and factions! However, I can’t list them all here, so please go down to the discussion to check them out!

Fun fact: upper and lower Egypt were named after the Nile’s flow, not the north-south direction. So upper Egypt was actually to the south of lower Egypt. Very confusing, I know.

Scenario

Religious Defection: your group of four are exiled from one of the two major factions. A bit of a mix of the Lost Tribe and Crashlanded starts, you have industrial level research, but very few resources. And also three camels, why not?

Patches
  • Tweaked the Kemetic structure from Alpha Memes to include more gods, moved the structure to the Embodied Theist section, and changed the nemes[en.wikipedia.org] texture from the top hat to the crown.
  • Removes the Kemetic structure from More Religious Origins (no need to have two, and the Alpha Memes one has more features) and adds the column and ideogram as ideological style options.
  • Added the clothes from Kemetic Apparel as ideological styles (the robe is the robe, the seto is the top hat, the priest cowl is the broadwrap, and the citizen cowl is the hood) and added designators to all the items. All the clothes can still be crafted.
  • Added some clothes from Ancient Rim – Oriental/Desert Edition (Continued) as ideological styles (he headwrap is the headwrap, and the cap is the tuque) and added designators to all the items. All the clothes can still be crafted.
  • Added designators to all the items from Kemetic Decorations.
