Info

In history some monarchs raised their heir to a co-regent to strengthen the succession and the dynasty. Although they were formally on a par, the original ruler was the one in charge.
This mod allows you to raise your heir’s claim strength by raising him to a "co-regent". The game doesn’t support two people ruling a country, so your heir formally stays your heir.

Features

This mod adds a decision to raise your heir to a co-regent of your country, which basically means it strengthens your heir’s claim.

The decision is visible, if:

  • your country has a heir
  • your country is a monarchy (but NOT an elective monarchy)
  • your heir is less than 15 years old (OR you are playing as the Roman Empire, the Western Roman Empire or the Byzanzine Empire)*
  • you didn’t raise any heir to a co-regent already under your current ruler’s reign

If you are the emperor of the HRE, you also need to have at least 5 provinces (cities).

To enact the decision, you also need to:

  • have at least 2 stability
  • have at least 50 ADM monarch power
  • have at least 70 legitimacy
  • have a heir with a weak or average claim (max. claim 66)
  • be at peace
  • be NOT a subject nation

If you are the emperor of the HRE, you need to have at least 30 imperial authority, if at least 4 electors vote for you OR at least 50 imperial authority, if less than 4 electors vote for you OR at least 10 imperial authority, if the Erbkaisertum reform is enacted.

After enacting the decision, the following will happen:

  • your heir receives 40 claim points, which will give your heir an average claim, if he/she has less than 27 claim points already OR a strong claim, if he/she has 27 or more claim points already 0-33: weak claim|34-66: average claim|67-100: strong claim
  • you lose 1 stability
  • you lose 15 prestige
  • you lose 10 legitimacy
  • you lose 50 ADM monarch points
  • you get a modifier til the death of your current ruler with these effects:
    • -1 yearly legitimacy
    • -0.5 yearly prestige
    • stability cost modifier -10%
    • diplomatic reputation +1
  • you get a modifier for 10 years, which gives you -0.05 global autonomy change in all provinces
  • your heir will get better in at least one skill:
    • 30% chance on: heir receives +1 ADM skill point
    • 30% chance on: heir receives +1 DIP skill point
    • 30% chance on: heir receives +1 MIL skill point
    • 10% chance on: heir receives +1 ADM & +1 DIP & +1 MIL skill point

If you are the emperor of the HRE, you also lose either 10, 30 or 50 imperial authority (depending on how many electors are voting for you).
The emperor also gets 25% more imperial authority till the death of the current ruler when raising the heir to a co-regent as well as a bonus to the elector’s reason to back him as emperor.

The AI will only do this, if they have a heir with an average claim, so that it is still possible to claim a PU on them.
As the emperor of the HRE, the AI will have a low change of enacting the decision, if it isn’t elected by at least 4 electors and/or has less than 80 imperial authority.

Compatibility:
  • compatible with any mod or DLC
  • EU4 Version 1.36

* in contrast to western Europe in the middle Ages, Roman emperors actually raised heirs to co-regents that already reached adulthood
