Description

This mod allows you to create a census. The census will provide you with information of your realm and your household. Additionally, you get an actual artifact! It is tested with Royal Court and you can display the census in your Court.

If there are any bugs please feel free to let me know and I will try to fix it.

If this mod needs updating, feel free to leave a comment. I will prioritize updating if I see users are still using it!

How to Use

The Census Decision starts the census event. To start the census, you need to have a steward and to create it you need to have a scribe. Your steward will find you a scribe should you need. You can also put a suitable person as your scribe. This is a new court position. You can pay a sum of money to find a fantastic scribe to create the best quality census. The census quality will depend on how much money you spend for it, as well as the quality of your scribe.

The quality of the scribe depends mostly on learning. Stewardship is also important. The trait "scholar" gives a bonus while being a genius, intelligent, or quick also contributes to the aptitude of the scribe.

Currently the census costs 25 or 200 gold plus the total number of provinces, depending on the quality you choose. It takes 2 days for each province to complete the census. For a large realm this might take a long time.

The Census Contents
The Information Given
  • Household– The number of spouse, concubines, children, siblings, courtiers, guests, prisoners, and knights.
  • Dynasty– The number of members, how many are male, female, and landed.
  • Vassal– The number of direct vassals and total vassals. The amount of vassals, courtiers, and guests in the realm.
  • Holdings– Total levies and garrisons, men-at-arms regiments, monthly income, available loot, counties, provinces, average development, and average province income.
  • Population– An estimated population of your realm. This is a number estimated by me, not an official one. The number is a combination of many things in the game, modified to match approximately with the 1066 start date in England to the Doomsday book. For other areas its probably very inaccurate, so more work is probably needed on this.

All of this information is saved into the artifact as the description. So you should be able to see all of it later, even if you put the census away.

Effects

Each province gains the "efficient census" modifier for 5 months. I added almost every positive thing for provinces so be sure to take a look in game!
The census artifact also has positive modifiers based on the quality. The best one will even increase your domain limit by 1.

Compatibility

This mod doesn’t edit any base game files, so it should work with just about everything.
It is not ironman compatible. It adds a court position for the scribe, as well as a positive modifier, so I would assume it may run into issues if uninstalled mid save, so just be wary of that.

Know Compatibility/Issues
AGOT mod – Seems to work fine, except for the date on the census. Adds 8000 years for some reason, likely due to the mod authors.
