Untouchable Defenders
tl;dr No one will be able to declare war directly on the Defenders of the Great Plan.
This mod is my next installment in trying to redeem this godawful nightmare of a DLC, and aims to make Nakai less terrible to play by ensuring the AI must declare war DIRECTLY on Nakai’s faction instead of his vassal, the Defenders of the Great Plan.
What it does exactly is disable the diplomacy options of "Declare War" and "Join War (e.g. United Against)" for any diplomatic deals with/toward the Defenders of the Great Plan, if the Spirit of the Jungle faction is controlled by a human player. The Defenders are still automatically at war with anyone the Spirit of the Jungle is at war with, but if anyone wants to attack the Defenders, they will have to declare war specifically on Nakai instead, which will force alliances to be taken into account.
This means Nakai can effectively join the Ordertide (or any other alliance) without having to worry nearly as much about his allies spontaneously massacring his vassal without any diplomatic consequences. They would have to break their alliance with Nakai’s faction first, then declare war on him, and potentially face the wrath of any other allies Nakai’s faction might still have.
This is a bit of a stopgap solution, but it does go a long way to redeeming Nakai’s horrible campaign experience. I hope we will have better/more sane diplomacy support for vassals in the future.
This mod has no effect when there is no human player controlling Nakai’s faction (to avoid cases where Nakai is gone, but his vassal isn’t, and no one can attack it).
