[EC]Shields
Adds shields to Rimworld.
– Functions like the shieldbelt but at a lower capacity.
– Cannot be worn simultaneously with the shieldbelt.
– Can block both melee and ranged damage.
– When worn with a ranged weapon, the shield will be disabled, but the pawn will be able to use their weapon.
– The shield takes durability damage for every hit that’s blocked.
– Melee skill affects the recharge rate of the shield and the amount of damage the shield can block.
By default, the pila is the only ranged weapon that can be used with the shield. I’ve included an xpath patch with the files that can be edited to allow whatever ranged weapons you want. It adds in a tag to flag the weapon as compatible.
Currently looking at balance. Suggestions are welcome. The goal is to make an early alternative to blocking damage, but should not replace shieldbelts in protection. It should provide enough cover to allow a pawn to enter melee range while taking ranged fire. They should be cheap to make materialwise, because they’re meant to break and be replaced.
