The destroyer Zhanjiang (Ship No.: 165) is the first ship of the 051G destroyer (NATO code: Luda II). It was started in Dalian Shipyard in August 1986, launched on August 1, 1988, and delivered to the South China Sea Fleet on December 30, 1989. Compared with the former model, Zhanjiang has installed a newly developed shipborne command system, replacing the old semi-automatic dual mounted 37mm and 25mm anti-aircraft guns with four dual mounted 37mm automatic rapid fire guns; Radar and electronic warfare systems have been updated, and air defense capabilities have been improved.
In 2003, on this basis, a 37mm gun was dismantled and HHQ-7 anti-aircraft missile was installed.
