Special thanks to Marco who made the logo/splash for me! (I’m absolutely hopeless at photoshop).

I originally wrote this for Legion Battlefields but am releasing it standalone for those who don’t want to load the entire mod. If you have Battlefields loaded, you do not need this mod, as it contains the exact same module, just renamed.

Rationale

I made and published this on request of the community around a year ago in an incomplete form within the battlefields mod to help alleviate some of the troubles I’ve noticed during sci-fi missions taking place in the ‘upper atmosphere’, ‘space’, or just really really high up.

Do you think this is really that original?

No.
No, I don’t.

Any scripter (given enough time and desire) could accomplish the same feat, probably better optimized than my work.

The point of this mod is so that you don’t have. I did the work for you. No need to go hunting through old forum posts, incomplete documentation, or trawl through the ol’ wiki. You don’t need any scripting experience to make this work. All you need to do is just add your desired module to your mission files and then go have fun.

How do I use this?

Just open up the Environment subcategory in the Systems tab and place the respective modules, instructions and additional info are provided in the ‘ModuleInfo’ section of attributes.

Can I reupload/repack this mod?:

I would prefer you don’t, simply because I don’t want to get any bug reports from two mods repacking this clashing.

That would be annoying.
Will I go after you? No. I don’t have the time or the inclination to pursue any DMCA’s.
Take that as you will.

If you don’t want to respect my wishes, at the very least, give credit where it’s due.

Do you have any more plans for this?:

Yes.

I plan on:

  • Optimizing the script.
  • Adding Editor-side options to allow for more individual tweaking and customization for the freefall zone module (e.g., the option to run the script locally, various call interval checks, adding editor side codeblock customization, etc.).
  • [FEATURE COMPLETE]adding a mission addon setting which allows you to disable freefall on the entire terrain (specifically for space/moon terrains rather than doing a localized zone. Added as an editor module, via setting a freefall height option
  • maybe a few more things if they occur to me.
