Africa Addio pt. 1 – Colonial Forces in Cold War Africa
The Africa of the great explorers, the huge land of hunting and adventure adored by entire generations of children, has disappeared forever. To that age-old Africa, swept away and destroyed by the tremendous speed of progress, we have said farewell…
A new two-parter set during the decolonialzation of Africa. This first part focuses on the colonial forces trying to maintain control within the continent.
While Rhodesia and South Africa were independent from a colonial power (The British Empire), the white minority within those countries still held the majority of political power. And thus to any freedom fighters, Rhodesia and South Africa would still be a part of that colonial legacy.
Rhodesia
-RLI Shorts
At first the notion of men wearing bootyshorts in combat may seem silly, but soon enough you too would want to swipe a pair.
-RLI Pants
It’s a long, long way to Mukumbura, and we’re going up there to stir!
-RAR
Defending Federation and Rhodesia, It was there we fought and won!
Seth Efrika
-SADF Regular
Soldiers fighting in the Border War were issued Staaldaks, but under the blazing sun many just wore bucket hats to combat.
Portugal
-Portuguese Regular
Sadly the workshop does not have the finest space-age battle rifle, you’ll just have to do with FALs and CETMEs.
Congo
-European Mercenary
Off the trucks and take cover!
-Belgian Paratrooper
The Denison smock may be excessive in the Congolese jungle, but how else would people know that you’re a paratrooper?

Opening from the title crawl of the mondo documentary Africa Addio. If you do watch it, please watch the original Italian version (it has english subtitles) since the english audio version altered the documentary for the worse.
