Description:

Ambient Silence works to mute the ambient interface sound effects that can not be controlled via the ambient slider in the audio options menu without also entirely muting the game’s sound.

This mod is intended for users who enjoy listening to music while playing the game but still want some sound enabled for the sake of interface feedback and immersion without constantly being bombarded by the un-mutable ambient menu sounds of coins clinking, councilors murmuring, warriors yelling, etc when accessing the top menu panels.

The affected aspects of the game are the various top menu panel ambient sounds, the holding view ambient sounds, and the overworld map ambient sounds. Event (executions, etc) and action (troop movement, etc) ambient sounds are not affected to preserve immersion.

The exact effect of the mod is to silence these undesired background ambient sounds while setting the panel opening SFX as a simple click for the sake of the desired UI feedback. The user should still set the volume slider for ambient sounds to 0 in the game menu to ensure any additional un-moddable ambient sounds are properly muted.

Compatibility:

This mod is compatible with Iron Man, Achievements, and any DLC. Since it is a straight SFX replacement mod, it should not conflict with any other mods unless they also have an effect on the ambient sound files involved.

Known Issues:

There is no click SFX when accessing the societies (monastic order, warrior lodge, etc) menu panels. This is due to these panels being coded differently than the others preventing adding a click SFX without it repeating constantly. However, the ambient sounds associated with these panels are still silenced by this mod.
