Description:

Adds the Mushroom Kingdom from Super Mario Bros. as a playable civilization with Peach as the leader.

UA: Devoted Subjects – Peach begins with Peach’s Castle instead of a palace. Peach’s Castle provides 10 happiness.

UU: Plumber – Replaces the swordsman. Gains +25% attack bonus in friendly territory and ignores terrain.

UB: Warp Pipe – Replaces the aqueduct. Causes 60% of food to carry over.

I made this mod a long time ago and never completely finished it. It’s missing a couple of icons, but it’s 100% playable so I wanted to go ahead and upload it. I hope you enjoy it and let me know how it plays.

The Mushroom Kingdom civ was designed to be good at maintaining small empires and pursuing culture victories. The large happiness boost from the UA allows the capitol to grow more quickly than other civs, letting you build wonders easily. Since the boost is local to the capitol, it’s difficult for this civ to expand early on, making it easier to focus on the capitol and a few nearby cities. The Warp Pipe is meant to make it even easier to grow your cities and get more production quickly.

Since this civ will likely not focus on expansion and conquering, their UU is designed for strong defense. Plumbers gain bonus damage while their fighting within your borders, and their ability to ignore terrain lets them quickly respond to outside threats. (The thematic signifigance of ignoring terrain is that Mario easily travels through all kinds of different environments in the games.)

I’m not a very strong civ player, so it’s difficult for me to determine balance. If you think this mod has balance issues, let me know and I’ll see what I can do to fix it.
