Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine (World Wonder)
Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine is a Shinto shrine built in 705 in dedication to Konohanasakuya-hime, the goddess of Mount Fuji and blossoms. When Mount Fuji erupted in 807, the Emperor dispatched imperial ambassadors to perform rites in this shrine, and granted the title "Greatest Mountain of Three States" to Mount Arakura where the temple is located. During the Warring States Period, Takeda Nobutora (father of Takeda Shingen) triumphed over his adversaries after conducting a prayer in Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine, so he dedicated his katana to this shrine. The shrine is now well-known for the stunning paranoma of its vermilion five-storied pagoda, Mount Fuji and vibrant cherry blossoms.
