Named Roman Legions
UPDATE 25.09.2021 UPDATE 25.09.2021: The appearance of many units has been changed by using new models from Celticus and Nonaic. The recruitment area of some legions has been changed
Hello everyone!
I am proud to present to you the second part of Roman units from my old mod "Named legions and auxiliary troops"! The first part, "Roman Auxiliary Troops", can be found here:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1234183504
This mod is updated to patch 19 and is not compatible with patch 17 and my old mod.
This part features famous Roman legions from the heyday of the empire. All of the Roman legions are included in the AOR system and can be recruited only in the regions of their historical location. The mod consists of two sections: legions for the Main campaign/Emperor Augustus and the legions for the Empire Divided campaign.
Main campaign/ Emperor Augustus:
All legion units appear in the game after learning the technology "Professional Army". Early legions can be recruited from military barracks level 2-4. Later legions can only be recruited from level 4 barracks. As we know, the Roman legion consisted of 10 cohorts, so the Eagle Cohort variants are capped at 1, and the regular Cohorts at 9. You will find 30 Roman legions in this campaign.
Divided empire:
The legions for this campaign are distinguished by weapons and ammunition. They appear in the game after the construction of level 2 military barracks and can be recruited by these factions of Rome: Aurelianian Rome, Gallic Rome and Palmyra Rome, all in different regions. We know that during this period the process of reducing the number of legionnaires in a legion began, therefore the units have a cap of 7. You will find 11 Roman legions in this campaign.
So, here is the list of units represented in this mod:
Main campaign/Emperor Augustus:
Legio I Adiutrix (reg. Celtic)
Legio V Alaudae (reg. Gallic)

This mod does not change the startpos file and it other mods that use a Non-Vanilla Area of Recruitment system may not be compatible.
A large number of units in custom battle can lead to crash of the game, to avoid this I canceled the automatic selection of the army by AI

P. S. We often get questions regarding DEI, and how it affects the use of our mods. DEI are the initials for Divide Et Impera, a popular overhaul mod that completely changes the game in areas such as map, camera, units, stats, factions, and many other things. The common issue you will encounter when combining our mod with it is that our unit stats coincide with the vanilla stats and end up being overpowered when faced against DEI units. So, use with caution if you intend to play with both. Anyway thanks as always, Andrew and Waffle 🙂
