Cataph’s TEB x Red’s Estalia Compatibility Patch [v.4.0]
Brings pretty much all aspects of awesome Red’s Estalia Overhaul into just as awesome Cataph’s Southern Realms Overhaul.
Huge shoutout to RedDragon0908, Ascopa, BlasDeLezo GrudgeBearer, Scarlet Carson and others involved in creation of Red’s Estalia Overhaul and Cataph’s Southern Realms Overhaul mods. And of course, a special shoutout to the one and only Cataph for his immeasurable input in TW modding community by his creations and tutorials.
Thank you, fellas, for making our game experience a little more fun!
Check out their other creations and consider giving them some endorsement if you haven’t yet!
Well, the best of both worlds, hopefully.
Cataph’s Tilea and Border Princes factions should play exactly how they played in Southern Realms mod, I specifically tried to leave everything untouched there.
As to Estalia and New World Colonies:
- Legendary Lords: Factions are led by Cataph’s faction leaders – Lupio Sunscryer and El Cadavo. Red’s faction leaders are available through the Plutocracy mechanic. To get them you have to own Estalian or NWC starting province and build a specific landmark to tier 1. So, for their respective factions they can be recruited within first 3-5 turns. Legendary Lords that are acquired through missions and dilemmas in Red’s overhaul are still available through those missions and dilemmas.
Note: All factions, that have access to Plutocracy mechanic (Border Princes and Tilea) are capable of hiring Isabella and Cortez.
- Unit Roster: Fully merged. Estalia and NWC are have access to combined units pool. Including ROR and units available through mercenary system. All units are available to allied recruitment. For other factions (BP, Tilea) unit roster is left unchanged.
The only way Tilea and Border Princes can access Red’s Estalian units (aside from allied recruitment) is to hire Isabella or Cortez through Plutocracy. Considering that they spawn with an army – there is a way to make a 20 stack with Estalian units playing as Tilea, for example.
- Building Chains: Manually merged. In "Military Recruitment" Estalia and NWC gain access to all recruitment building from both mods (3 from Red’s and 3 from Cataph’s), pretty much no changes made to the buildings. In other sections buildings are mixed and rebalanced to make sense. If some buildings served the same role, I’ve tried to merge them and combine effects.
In the "Defense" section Estalia and NWC have two "Walls" building. Why? Well, main settlement building provides mixed garrison from Red’s and Cataph’s units. And the walls, by providing units only from one of the mods are giving the player the opportunity to choose preferable garrison. Pretty much building either of walls up to tier 4 should fill the garrison with units from one particular overhaul. So, choose your favorite, or mix and match to have more variety in the settlement’s fights.
- Technology Tree: Manually merged. All the techs from both mods are found their way in a new tree. That’s a lot of technologies there. To accommodate for this, I’ve given Estalia and NWC 100% boost to research rate. But even then, it’ll take a while to research them all. So, pick and choose carefully.
Is it balanced? I believe – yes, actually. Tech effects haven’t changed in any way, so mostly Red’s tech shouldn’t affect Cataph’s units and vice versa. Twice as much units to upgrade – double the speed. Makes sense to me. Report in balance discussion if you playtested this and I ended up being wrong – we’ll try to come up with better balance.
- Missions and Dilemmas: Not much to say here. All the missions and dilemmas from the both mods should be intact and give the same experience and rewards.
Patch obviously REQUIRES Red’s Estalia Overhaul and Cataph’s Southern Realms overhaul to be installed and active. And just as obvious – all their requirements (MIXU’s unlocker) are also REQUIRED!!!
As to other mods: specifically tried to make this patch as compatible to pretty much everything as humanly possible. So, unless some mod messes with Estalia/NWC tech tree and building chains, there shouldn’t be any issues. Everything compatible with Cataph’s Southern Realms should in theory be at least semi-compatible with this patch. (That means that not all features might work as intended, but the game will work nonetheless).
Plus, transferred mod support from both mods, so:
- Victory Conditions Overhaul – fully compatible (Red’s victory conditions are transferred over)
- Tabletop Caps – fully compatible (Cataph’s units values provided by Cataph, I’ve provided the rest for Red’s units. I don’t play with TTC myself usually, so might be a bit off with values. Let me know if something bothers you in the balance discussion)
- Landmarks of Legends – fully compatible (Well, except I had to restrict Estalia/NWC’s access to Aragón Salón building. Cause, damn, -60% upkeep reduction. Add here -30% upkeep reduction from mercenary camp building and you getting basically unlimited free armies in the capital region. That’s just too fun, I can’t allow that!)
- Immortal Landmarks – fully compatible
- Old World Currencies (TEB) – fully compatible
- Unit Expansion for Cataph’s TEB – fully compatible (Well, at the moment at least. If/when mod gets updated, then update for this patch might be required)
- Sons of Myrmidia – fully compatible (With TEB Compatibility Submod, that author provided)
- Caravans of the Old World – fully compatible
- Building Slots Extended – compatible with a submod (Huge thanks to Myxameno for adding support for this patch!)
Tested this patch along the list of 60+ different mods up to turn 25 and it SEEMS to be working smoothly. Let me know if you encountered any compatibility issues in respective discussion thread.
I’ll try to keep this patch updated along the original mods, submods and the game itself. But, if something happens to me and I’ll go MIA and stop responding for an extended period of time – then any modder have my permission to straight up download this patch, fix it up to date and reupload it to the workshop.
