The Desert King – Tomb King Wakhaf
This is a campaign mod which adds to the skill tree of the DLC Rise of the Tomb Kings technology tree acquired Lord – King Wakhaf.

The Tech tree granted Tomb King Lords can be a bit bland, effectively re-skinned base Tomb Lords with no additional skill abilities and a dynasty ability to give them a bit of flavour. This mod attempts to add to the depth that Tomb King Wakhaf has, effectively making him upto near Legendary Lord campaign-level status by adding powerful unique campaign skills.
King Wakhaf unfortunately has very minimal lore written about him. In a review of what was available the fact that he fought desert nomads was literally all to be found. CA themselves seem to have improved the available lore on the character. So what do we know?
- He was the sixth king of the first dynasty.
- He fought some nomads.
- And we have CA’s addition of "He is a peerless master of desert warfare"
That addition by CA is the spark for this mod. Given the dearth of written lore about the character I instead delved into some books on ancient desert warfare tactics to read about what desert warfare was like in ancient Egypt. Those were the inspirations mainly for this mod and the skills that I’ve created for him. I also challenged myself a little technically in adding an innate ability (sandstorm) to a dynasty lord for the first time, not something I was sure I could do, but I think it provides some more depth to the character.

King Wakhaf has been designed as a Cavalry Lord for Tomb Kings, specifically he is designed to give a significant boost to the lowest tier of Tomb Kings Cavalry. His abilities and boosts start out small (though the innate Sandstorm ability is fun to use to break up formations), however they truly start to kick in at level 10. By the time your lords are hitting level 10 this is usually around the point as lower teir Tomb King cavalry (which is already poor) dramatically looses effectiveness. King Wakhaf’s bonuses won’t completely reverse this drop off, however he will make lower level cavalry last a little longer, maybe even into the mid-game.

I will be returning to this mod after more playtesting with some numbers tuning updates. In the meantime I welcome your feedback. Please do give play experience feedback however rather than just comments from looking at the skills.
