ECM GALATHEA
With expansion into the bleak depths of Europa proceeding rapidly, the Europa Coalition’s Office of Deep Sea Exploration (ODSE, usually pronounced ‘odyssey’ by Europa Coalition veterans) has generated a contract for a diving vessel capable of supporting large deep sea diving operations at a relatively low cost.
Iconoclast’s candidate for the contract–the Galathea–is the lightest and most technologically advanced submitted for consideration so far. While most other candidates, such as EVCom’s Volchika, are redesigned heavy freighters with one or two dive support drones, the Galathea has extensive drone bays to accommodate hunter killer drones, proximity alert drones, and traditional dive support drones. In addition, it is armed with a Growler MKIIA nuclear torpedo (by ACI). In fact, it was this last addition that convinced ACI to withdraw its own candidate vessel from consideration.
The ECM Galathea has the following features:
– 2 Diving decks
– Engineering readouts for at-a-glance summaries of grid and reactor status
– 1 AHAB hunter killer drone with twin chainguns
– 2 BADGER dive support drones with oxygen and storage
– 2 FOXFIRE proximity alert drones
– Dedicated ammunition storage for GROWLER nuclear torpedo
– CCTV array
– Reinforced hulls in sensitive areas
– Windowed shutters in command deck to protect against destruction of porthole
– Partially unpowered drainage system
– 4x Electric Discharge pads
– 1x Railgun
– 2x Chaingun
– 1x Hardpoint
Special thanks to the people in the discord whose conversation about drones helped inspire this ship.
