This mod, "Skidvar’s CRAP – Vanilla Scripts" is the core of a newer version of my Changing Capitals, Starting Ranks, etc. For compatibility reasons I started creating a compilation of scripted mods, splitting it into a core (or hub mod, if you will – this one) and some submods that you can freely opt into including:

  • "Skidvar’s CAP – Changing Capitals," which allows players to change the starting capital any turn by moving the faction leader into another settlement, triggering a dilemma that gives the option to move to that settlement for 5000 from the faction treasury.
  • "Skidvar’s RAP – Random (Faction) Personalities," which gives rival factions random personalities depending on the faction leader at campaign start and whenever a faction leader dies, cf. Total War: Attila. (The only exception to random personalities is Caesar from the "Caesar in Gaul" DLC as I felt that I had to keep his ambitious, relentless personality true to history)
  • "Skidvar’s RANK – Starting Ranks," which gives ranks to starting characters in the first turn (cf. Rome Total War) with a small measure of randomisation every new game, both for player and AI factions. (Faction leaders will always start at rank 4-5, other generals at 1-3, agents at rank 2, and new characters still at rank 1; players can still assign skills while the AI factions assign them automatically)

Compatibility

This mod is the core of the above mod compilation, containing the scripting.lua files and some support files. It needs one (or more) submods to do something useful apart from optimising zoom settings, so the idea is that use at least one submod with this core mod.

Both core and submods are:

  • Compatible with all vanilla campaigns
  • Compatible with single and multiplayer campaigns
  • Savegame-compatible: meaning you can opt in during a campaign without crashing and have the mod working from then on
  • Compatible with almost any mod apart from a few that change the scripting.lua files
  • Compatible with many overhaul mods (e.g. GC on IA), TPY mods, etc.
  • Incompatible with DEI (which has its own systems), POR2 (that may change in the future), and probably with Radious (not checked)
