PRR T1 TFP2 Update
- New from scratch textures (wheels and valve gear link to original .tga)
- Added front couplers, and updated rear coupler to MC’s
- Added cabin and crew
- Added rear grab irons to tender
- New tender bogies
- Added functioning headlights
The PRR T1 was a rigid, 4-4-4-4 duplex. Unlike other 4 wheelset arrangements, this wasn’t articulated. (PRR had another duplex, the 6-4-4-6 with the T1 being the successors).
The T1’s were massive beasts, with lots of power. So much power that it was prone to wheelslip, though it being a mechanical issue or lack of experience from the crew is something of debate). It was [supposedly] observed that to make up time, it would travel at 140mph, which would have made it the fastest locomotive in the world.
Unlike many streamlined steam engines in the US where they were shrouds, the streamline was actually part of the locomotive design, much like NYC Dreyfus’. These were constantly used on the
