Description:
Nordic Honor

This mods goal is to introduce new Germanic religions, unique doctrines, and holy sites, allowing players to explore ancient Norse and Germanic faiths while making important decisions that shape the religious future of their realms.

The mod aims to encourage players to refrain from reforming the pagan belief and instead remain a tribe for as long as possible or transition into the feudal era as an unreformed pagan kingdom.

What Nordic Honor Adds
  • New Germanic/Norse faiths with distinct identity, mechanics, and decisions
  • Decisions & events that push unreformed pagan gameplay (stay tribal longer, or go feudal unreformed)
  • New holy sites and light historical flavor for Northern Europe
  • Extra content: new trait, more names, custom GFX for decisions/events

New Faiths
  • Forn Siðr — ancient Germanic pantheon (Wotan as supreme deity)
  • Gíñnregla — Icelandic tradition that endures into later centuries
  • Heiðinn — Slavic–Germanic blend (Rus settlement influence)
  • Náttúruguðtrúar — Sámi–Norse nature focus
  • Óðinstru — hardline, warlike devotion

Some faiths can pursue unexpected holy sites (including major Christian capitals), while others focus on coexistence.

Signature Decisions
  • Last Duel — an aging ruler seeks a final duel for glory; success can grant a unique trait
  • Form Old Saxia — revive the Kingdom of Saxony (and annoy the Carolingians)
  • Iceland’s Religious Future — Christianity or the old ways
  • Religious Coexistence — stabilize relations with Christian faiths
  • …and more

Compatibility
  • Achievement compatible
  • Overwrites only 00_germanic.txt
  • Not save-game compatible (start a new campaign)
  • Legacy versions available if needed

Known Conflicts
  • Rurik: Chronica Slavorum
  • Old Gods Expanded

Good Additions

Historical Accuracy

Most of the names and decisions are entirely fictional, intended to expand the universe of the Germanic faith. That being said, I strive to add features in a way that they appear plausible and are rooted somewhat in historical actions or archaeological findings.
