Better Recruitment Times (Ancestral Update)
We wanted a more exciting and balanced recruitment system. That’s why we built Better Recruitment Times. It changes the create time of all ~1900 units not only from the Grand Campaign or Imperator Augustus but also from all of the DLCs.
BRT is designed to draw the line between elite infantry and cheaper troops. The goal is to make armies more varied and realistic. In the ‘good old Shogun 2 days’, if you had a hurry to create an army you would have just quickly recruited some Ashigarus, not a Preatorian spam. This gives a purpose for inferior units, especially in the late game. It also brings new mechanics and ways of thinking your campaign. In the late game, when you have the elite troops unlocked, you can basically just instantly deploy them since they take the same time to recruit than any peasants. Your armies become identical.

Generally the creating time for the poorer units is 1 turn, while elite infantry can take 3 turns to be recruited. The units lying in-between are usually recruited in 2 turns. Even though all skirmishers are concidered light infantry, they are still split into two categories based on their overall usefulness. Normal ones take one turn to recruit and the actually good ones take two turns.
Recruitment time of a ship is dependent on the unit that is onboard, unit size and the size of the ship. Ships with artillery or bow towers take 2-3 turns to recruit.
This version of BRT is compatible with Patch 20 "Ancestral Update".
Some overhaul mods like Radious and Rome: Total Overhaul are known to cause some issues. BRT should work with all mods that don’t change the main_units values. It is also save game compatible.
This version might not work with saves from earlier patches. Download the legacy version of the mod here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1226414743
As always, backup your campaign save files from your Rome 2 %appdata% folder before downloading if you don’t want to risk you campaign saves.
BRT is suggested to use with the Four turns per year mod. If you have mods that bring new units to the game all the new units will take the time to recruit that the modder has set them to, unless you change those values. Learn how to do that down below.
