Historical background

The project began to appear on local lines in the Doliton part of the former Austria-Hungary in the early 1890s. Before the outbreak of the First World War, at least 90 buildings were built, which lie on the territory of several successor states of the Danube Monarchy. The project was first implemented in Volhynia (Strakonice-Vimperk suburban railway) and in Prachatice at the Vodniany-Prachatice suburban railway. According to reports, the first known buildings appeared already in 1891 on the territory of Austria. Unlike other local types, the building is not located on any main lines, unless, of course, some branches from which local lines originated are taken into account. Due to the fact that the known buildings are located in several successor states of the former Austro-Hungarian monarchy and the availability of archival materials is rather difficult, it is difficult to list all the buildings of this project. Also known as type 17H in the Czech Republic.

Layout

The layout of the ground floor is visible from the drawing: on the left there were two offices, the front part of which was also a ticket office for passengers. There were also two waiting rooms, an entrance area and stairs to the basement and upper floor. On the second floor there were two apartments for employees, one with a kitchen and a room, the other with a kitchen and two rooms. On the third floor there was one apartment with a room and a kitchen overlooking the station, two rooms in the side wings and a mezzanine on the front facade. There are modifications without a porch, as well as with one-sided and two-sided extensions, especially for the porch, which were mainly added later. As a rule, buildings differ from each other both in planning and in exterior decoration – especially now, after numerous reconstructions. In the basic project, the plaster of the building, including the corner fittings, is ocher, the windows and doors are brown. The wooden structure of the veranda is painted green on the outside and light ocher on the inside. The remaining wooden parts of the building are brown. The roof covering depended on the location of the building, in which area – either slate or beaver, the roof of the porch was tin or cardboard. Chimneys are not plastered. The floor plan does not show the corner ledges, which appear to have been only done with a thicker layer of plaster rather than masonry. The plaster of the first floor is divided by horizontal blind joints. There are other decor options – for example, in Poshtorna, the entire building was lined with ceramic tiles.
