(Dis)continuity
What if, instead of continuing as your heir when you die, you could swap to another new ruler elsewhere in the game? Rather than give you the perspective of a super-dynasty controlled by a will greater than any one character, (Dis)continuity gives you a new experience every life with the perspective of a single individual trying to make it in the medieval world. When they die, you can move on to somebody else’s life (or not) as you choose.
The way this works is that on the death of your character, a couple events will search for new rulers (at most a year in power, but higher priority for shorter reigns), "ping" a suitable candidate, and message you the selected ruler and the appropriate console command to switch to them. You can enter the command to switch or choose to draw again. A decisions-based menu allows you to restrict candidates, manually trigger the search, or even disable the mod.
*In theory* the search considers installed dlc.
This should be compatible with everything – except ironman for obvious reasons.
On a typical US keyboard, the console can be opened with the ` key (normally below escape). § also is an option present on some keyboards, and if not explicitly present can be entered with Alt + NumPad 2 + NumPad 1 (Windows) or ⌥Option + 6 (Mac). If none of these work, check the forums.
