M224 60mm Mortar (ACE)

Originally, this mortar has been created by Neddles for his 6×6 ATV mod. All credits for the model, core mechanics and config goes to him.

There’s really little choice when it comes to 60mm mortars in Arma 3, which is sad. None of them have been working with CSW, until now. I’ve decided to add this functionaliy and release it as a separate mod, so you don’t have to use the ATV mod if you don’t need it (and Neddles has given permission to repack his work in the past).

This mod leaves the core functionalities of the original mortar intact. You can use ACE CSW version of the mortar (and also pack it back as vanilla backpack after setting it up, if you choose to) or the vanilla version, which in theory doesn’t even require ACE (the mod itself is based on CBA, so you need that).

What I’ve added / changed:

  • Added CSW (launcher slot) variant of the mortar: unpack and load via ACE, pack it back either via ACE or vanilla disassemble (converts to backpack version),
  • Added CSW ammunition (choose this, if you’re using CSW variant)
  • Tweaked flare round brightness,
  • Added IR flare round,
  • Changed reload sound.

CSW version has much shorter reload time since it has to be loaded one round at a time.

Known issues
  • Loaded round will dissapear after packing the weapon
    This requires me to write a bit of code, I’ll sort it out when I can.
  • Interaction points are not properly placed
    Ammo handling is placed, more or less, at the end of the tube when it is aligned vertically – not much I can change. The interaction point is somewhere mid air (probably at the model starting point) – AFAIK this can be tweaked. Again I’ll look into it when I have some time.

F.A.Q

Can I repack this mod?
When it comes to my addons – repack the ♥♥♥♥ out of it, I don’t care. I can’t speak for Neddles though.

Will you add x?
No, simply because I don’t have both skill and time.

I’ve found a bug!
Let me know in the comments, I’ll try to sort it out when (and if) I have some spare time.

Also – the original mod has a lot of ugly code in the init function. When I’ll find some time, I’ll try to clean that up.
