USS Nevada (BB-36) (1945)
USS Nevada (BB-36), was the lead ship and one of two in the Nevada-class Superdreadnoughts of the United States Navy. Starting construction in 1911 and being commissioned in 1916, she was the last ship able to reach Europe during WWI. While sporting a few refits during the interwar years, she otherwise had a very uneventful career until December 7th, 1941, where she would be involved in the attack on Pearl Harbor. She was the only ship on Battleship Row able to get underway, taking a few hits from bombs and torpedoes before beaching herself. After repairs and refits up to 1943, she would be present to bombard Normandy, Toulon, Okinawa, and Iwo Jima. After the war, she was used as a target for the Operation Crossroads nuclear detonations, surviving. She would take even more punishment before an aerial torpedo finally finished her off in 1948.
