The Townguard – Mob Upgrade

Hey folks,
It’s time for another mod. This one adds three updates for all mob units. They can be unlocked via civil construction technologies. All the new units look different for each mob line.

• Carthaginian Mob
• Eastern Mob
• Egyptian Mob
• Greek Mob
• Italian Mob
• Roman Plebeians

With this first upgrade mob gets a small round shield and a sling with short range like a skirmisher. Some of the units wear helmets but they are still using daggers. However, you are able to kill some weaker units with this upgraded mob.

Most units now wear helmets and greaves. They fight with clubs, daggers and axes in melee and throw wooden javelins like skirmishers. With this upgrade the mob becomes a usefull defense unit and can decimate enemies that are in combat with allied units.

The townguards wear chainmails, helmets and greaves, some of them wear cloaks. Noblemen of your cities pay for their equipment to gain security. They fight with swords or axes and throw javelins. Townguards are a valuable defense unit against other infantry.

After researching the needed technlogy the upgraded unit will replace all mob units in every garrison.

• Town Guard (level 4) is available in custom battles for all greek factions and also for Romans, Etruscans, Egypt and Carthage
• As soon as you unlock level 4 you will get an additional townguard in your garrison with every city/town centre or water building and with every religious building level 4 or 5. This should guarantee cities get growing garrisons with growing size.

The Townguard is compatible with save games and most other mods. Issues might occur using mods that …

• … remove mob or the ability to recruit mob
• … replace garrison groups or add new garrison groups with mob
• … change construction technology tree
