República Popular de San Cristóbal
The little island of San Cristóbal just got independent from Spain and the new communistic leadership is eager to turn the sleepy fishing villages and squalid farms into a steaming, modern industrial power to prove to the whole world that communism is the right answer to the questions of the time. But is it?
Your first job will be to rebuild the rundown farmland and forestry to establish some export goods and provide jobs for your people. Most of the island is covered in thick jungle so there is an abundance of wood.
The terrain is going to be quite a challenge. Flat areas are only to be found around the existing villages and there is a large elevated plain in the center of the island, the rest is all mountainous with steep cliffs and canyons.
The only natural mining resource is bauxite. But there is plenty of it. Enough to make it profitable to cut down the ancient rain forest and poison the land with toxic red mud.
Your outside connections are either by ship to the soviet union or to the Dutch enclave of Willemstad which features the only accessible outside road connection. Ships can also be purchased there.

edit: since this is a tropical island, just turn off the seasons so there wont be any winter. As soon as different climate zones are implemented in the game I will set this to proper tropical climate, however that is going to be.
