(SP) Prologue: Cyprus Crisis
Cyprus Crisis is a fully voice acted singleplayer mission for arma 3. It also contains it’s own copyright free soundtrack, with tracks taken from arma 2 and arma 3, as well as a cinematic intro.
In this mission, you’ll play as Sgt. Freitas, Team leader of Lynx team, a squad of a Brazilian Navy Spec Ops unit called "GERR". You’re main objective is to extract the Brazilian embassador from a Cyprus immersed in chaos and war.
Year’s 2025. For years the island of Cyprus had been a contested territory by Greece, Turkey and two other minor countries: Altis and Turkistan. With the western block declining it’s influence over the world, and NATO loosing it’s protagonism as the world’s most imponent military force, CSAT gains more and more territory and influence, as more countries join the eastern alliance.
One of these countries is Turkistan. Now fully supported by CSAT, both militarily and economicaly, the former NATO member can now impose it’s territorial pretentions over it’s neighborus. Turkistan seizes the moment and invades Cyprus.
Although not having a professional military, the national guard of cyprus, the police force and a couple of volunteers, as well as some old soviet-era armored fighting vehicles taken from old depots are making a stand against the turkistani invasion. They have lost terrain and retreated, then concentrated in the capital, La Trinitè, where it’s making it’s last stand. This Militia is little organized and extremely violent.
amidst all this mess, the Embassador of Brazil has gone missing. Brazil has initiated intense diplomatic conversations with turkistan, Altis, Greece and turkey. The talks have led to an agreement of a 6 hours halt of the turkistani offensive, so that the Brazilian embassador could be safely extracted from the area. On the other hand, Brazil has failed to contact the leadership of Cyprus’ militia, and so, it’s highly likely the cypriots will fire at anyone entering la trinitè.
With this in mind, the Brazilian Navy has dispatched one of it’s frigates, the assunção to the agean sea. from there, a special forces team will insert via Helicopter, and cooperate with the turkistani forces in the area to triangulate the embassador’s location. Altis armed forces are securing a runway located in a small island north-west of mainland Cyprus, where a Brazilian Air Force C-130 is waiting to extract the embassador and the special forces team.
