Lemma II
The lemma series was initiated after the Probe Series and designed to replace various outdated vessels. The entire series is equipped with standard features such as
- Lock: locking of the brig
- Dock: docking of the lower docking chamber)
- Hatch: manual control mode of the upper hatch
- High-pressure mode: higher speed and extra ballast tanks.
In the campaign set in Hellish difficulty with Jupiter radiation enabled, it offers a satisfying gaming experience.Lightweight design, thus no fancy decorations, but it ensures a smooth gameplay experience without any lag. A honourable captain will read the instruction manual before embarking on their journey.
The Lemma II is a medium-sized research scott-submarine specially developed by the Europa Union Design Bureau for the Europa Ridge marine research project, intended to replace the bulky obsolete Orca 2[barotraumagame.com]. Its series’ distinctive streamlined superstructure design, combined with high-power engines, grants it impressive speed, sufficient to outpace most small and medium-sized creatures.
Like its flagship version, the Lemma III, it features a battery-powered engine design that greatly reduces the drastic fluctuation on the power grid during maneuvering. However, to ensure maneuverability through complex terrains, its size is strictly limited, and among many design metrics, the least important one, cruising speed, has been sacrificed. When the batteries are depleted, engine power will be limited to the charging rate of the batteries, which significantly reducing the cruising speed. Captains with extra funding can choose to upgrade the battery pack or the engine to extend high-speed cruising time.
The compactness of the Lemma II is evident in every aspect, such as the cramped crew compartment and small toilet. However, the saved space has been effectively utilized, providing well-equipped functional compartments to independently carry out medium to long-term scientific research projects. Within the small hull, there are research laboratories, a complete set of processing equipment, a cultivation chamber, and a high-capacity ballast tank. It is hoped that the confined crew’s spirits can be alleviated by indulging in delicious pomegrenades produced in the cultivation chamber, or by savoring the Jovian Rum brewed from the raptor bane, in the relatively spacious lounge.
In terms of armament, the two pulse laser at the bow and hull efficiently clear obstacles along the exploration route, mercilessly shattering both ice spires and the tough shells of raptor in precise accuracy. However, when encounter the herds, maneuvering and the chaingun at the stern become necessary. This Chaingun has been meticulously tuned by the Design Bureau, enhancing its firing rate and incorporating a coilgun’s loading system. When adequately supplied with power, the two types of ammunition will be fired alternately, providing each Lemma II captain with the delightful dilemma of selecting the appropriate ammunition combination for different targets. Compared to the Lemma III, the Remark class shuttle will undertake more significant responsibilities as the sole large turret hardpoint, and its choice of armament will have far-reaching impacts.
The comprehensive and outstanding attributes of the Lemma II come with a high price. Some captains taking on projects in low-exploration regions, and others even venture into abyssal-missions in order to repay their debts quickly. When facing the giant creatures of the abyss, the Lemma II is indeed vulnerable. However, the Design Bureau believes that captains with wisdom and caution will return safely and triumphantly.
