Description:

Hello,

this mod adds few units to round up the Brets:

2 new Cav units (one magical, one ethereal)
1 war beast unit
1 missile unit with AP
2 limited late game infantry units

It is meant for vanilla balance.

New building:

Lady’s forest chain

– recruitment of Sons of Bretonnia, Fey Spirits and Wolfhounds
– adds movement buff, same as Roads.

New units:

Rogues

While not exactly loreful, I took the idea of faceless and outlaws and started with this high tier unit. If it makes sense roster wise, I’d try to make the outlaw theme as an alternative gameplay for Brets.

T5 infantry, fragile with low leadership but high damage and weeping blade. They are recruited from tavern and come with custom model.

Wolfhounds

Stems from Truffle hounds. It is meant to fill early roster with cav type unit along with Yeomen, wolves are however small entity.

Herrimaults

Hermit Knights

Sons of Bretonnia

Fey Spirits (redesigned to cav)

Herrimaults

Herrimaults live by a code of honour that is clearly set out in the tales of the Faceless. The order of the injunctions is roughly their order of importance. Groups of outlaws who harm innocents lose any claim to be Herrimaults, even if the harm was caused in the pursuit of justice. Loyalty to one another is, of course, vital among outlaws, as is the prohibition on asking about a member’s past. Peasants and even nobles who wish to leave some traumatic event behind often join the Herrimaults, concentrating on their new goals.

Most nobles regard the Herrimaults as criminals and revolutionaries, to be put down as quickly and brutally as possible. Many merchants share this opinion. The most just nobles, however, find that they have few problems with the Herrimaults personally and generally admire their aims. Some even help them secretly without giving up their noble positions, and a few Faceless sleep in a castle most nights.

Sons of Bretonnia

Acting as martial counterparts to the Lady’s chosen Damsels, the only warriors that seem greater in Bretonnia are the revered Grail Knights themselves.

Each knight is a stolen Son of Bretonnia grown to powerful maturity and regal stature. Garbed in archaic silver armour and wielding a variety of strange, mystical weapons, their pale skin has a slight glow and their eyes glitter with the glory of their goddess.

Fey Spirits

The land of Bretonnia is steeped in ancient magic,
seeping out from the very earth itself. Strange are the
legends of fey spirits appearing from forests, lakes and
other natural places to aid the Bretonnians –
otherworldly guardians, ghostly bowmen from ages
past, the souls of long-lost knights, and even the
translucent spirits of the land itself.

They appear when Bretonnia finds itself in need,
attacking those who would seek to despoil the fair
forests and lakes. No one knows exactly what they are,
but the tales tell of them being the spirits of noble
knights from ages past, summoned forth by the Lady of
the Lake herself to protect Bretonnia from harm. Truly
it is said that Bretonnia is a land alive with chivalry.

Hermit Knights

Mighty Grail Knights who were nearing the end of their long lives, spending their final years guarding sacred chapels.

The Hermit does not die from hunger, for every day, Peasants and Shepherds travel a long way to give him wine, fresh bread, excellent local cheeses, and quarters of venison. In this way they thank the Hermit for the protection that he gives their villages by preventing hostile creatures from descending the mountain. Despite his advanced age, he is still a Grail Knight, and thus a ferocious warrior. The skulls of many Dragons lining the mountain path are eloquent testimony to his martial valour.[1]

The Hermit does not possess a mount: he has no need, since among the slopes and masses of fallen rocks, only a man on foot could fight. As soon as a Dragon captures a maiden, the Hermit comes to challenge him in his lair without any fear, and no damsel shall be abandoned as a meal to dragonlings as long as he and his powerful sword are in the area.
