SNCF Class CC 72000
The SNCF Class CC 72000 was a class of C-C diesel locomotives. Ninety-two locomotives were built by Alsthom between 1967 and 1974 for the SNCF. The first twenty were limited to 140km/h, the maximum speed of the following has been enhanced to 160km/h. It is the most powerful diesel locomotives of the SNCF. Thirty of them have become CC 72100 by re-engining.
The CC 72075 has been originally equipped with a 3100kW diesel engine, being afterwards upgraded to 3530kW, making it the most powerful single-engine diesel locomotive in Europe.
