The sprout will only infect the corpse if it sees it. You can disable the sprout’s infestation in F1 menu – Drvrej – SNPC Configures – Atomic Heart.

If you want Sprouts to infect the corpses of HL2 NPCs, you should turn on Keep Corpses.

You can press Z at any time to remove sprouts (except spawner spawned ones)

NPCs have extra blood particle effects and hit sounds. It may conflict with some WORKSHOP blood particle mods and cause lag.
You can turn off extra hit sounds in the Atomic Heart menu.

Sprout nests can spawn on walls as well as on the ground. You just need to face the wall and create a sprout nest.

The limbo cat does not have any attack ability, but it can heal the player and make the sound of wind chimes when the player gets close to it. (enjoy a moment of peace)
