Nickel Plate Road 765
Nickel Plate Road 765 is a S-2 2-8-4 Berkshire type steam locomotive built for the New York, Chicago & St. Louis Railroad or Nickel Plate Road. The locomotive was built in September 8, 1944 and first assigned to Bellevue Ohio, where it was pulling fast freight, after WWII 765 was worked out of a classification yard, It was retired in June 14, 1958, In December it was used to heat up a stalled passenger train, but it wasn’t scrapped, on May 4, 1963 it was preserved, but restored on September 1, 1979, the locomotive is still around today, it had visited the Indiana Northeastern Railroad for excursions in 2022.
