In the 1940’s, the Magma Arizona narrow gauge branch reached out to the DRGW and bought the plans for their Narrow Gauge 4-8-2. Built by the Superior Locomotive Works, it is the most powerful rigid frame 3 ft locomotive in the world. Numbered 500-509, like the DRGW ones, all survive into preservation and run tourist service on the MAZNG. It’s design is similar to that of the K-36, but the MAA’s were modified with an extra set of air compressors for more braking power.
