USS John C. Butler (DE-339) – 1945
1944 variant with torpedo tubes available here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3094641342
USS John C. Butler (DE-339) was the lead ship of the John C. Butler-class destroyer escorts, the final and best class of destroyer escorts produced by the United States during the war. Building upon the preceding Rudderow-class, the Butlers retained the same low bridge and 5" main battery while incorporating geared turbine propulsion, giving them a top speed of 24 knots and up to 29 knots during emergencies with the safety systems disabled.
This model reflects Butler as she appeared in 1945 at the end of the war. With the threat of the Japanese surface fleet gone and increasing Kamikaze attacks, she had her torpedo tubes removed and replaced with additional 40mm Bofors mounts, as well as upgraded radar and fire control systems.
She has the following armament:
-2x 5"/38cal Mk 30 single mounts
-10x 40mm Bofors (1x quad, 3x twin)
-10x 20mm Oerlikons
-1x Hedgehog projector
-8x Depth charge projectors
-2x Depth charge stern rails
Credit and thanks to Zamarick for allowing me to use his 5" practice loading machine and depth charge projectors from his USS Cushing.
