Kim’s Culture Caleidoscope – More divergent and hybrid culture names
Hello!
This is my first mod ever, but I think I’ve managed without any bugs.
I’ve added some more names for divergent and hybrid cultures. Some are purposefully ahistoric, but I think that if a culture that easily fits the games criteria exists even though it’s outside the timeframe (especially if they’re more modern) it shoud be added, IE Mughal from Mongolic heritage in India.
I’d happily take suggestions.
Changes:
-Gutish and Geatish can form from all North Germanic heritage, rather than just Swedish. (Gutish evolved separate from Swedish until the late middle ages. Old norse is considered to have 3 "dialects", East (Swedish, Danish), West (Norwegian, Icelandic, Faroese, Norn) and Gutnish. I’m thinking of MAYBE modding the culture forming events of ON -> No/Dk/Sw cultures to include these two.
Removed North Germanic from the Hierosalymer-trigger, they get their own Jorsaling culture (if christian)
Corrected Saxon to Anglo-Saxon in several Norse-in-England cultures.
Added Fusions:
Cossack – East Slavic heritage + Turkic Heritage on the Steppe
Rus’ – Norse culture + East Slavic Heritage in Russia
Varangian – North Germanic heritage + Byzantine heritage (Technically Rus and Varangian can be considered to be different names for the same thing, but i do what i want)
Serkir – Norse culture + Arab/Berber heritage in the Middle East/North Africa (From old norse for a middle eastner, an inhabitant of Serkland)
Jorsaling – North Germanic version of Outremer culture, North Germanic heritage + Arab Heritage in Jerusalem
Anglo-Indian
Farang Persian/Arab fusion with Western Europeans (except Spain and Italy)
Firangi – West europeans in India, or Indians in Western Europe
Lost Vikings – North Germanic heritage + Whatever there is in the Tarim Basin. It’s funny because the vikings were a naval culture and the Tarim basin is basically as far as you can get from the sea, and an endorheic basin.
Yona – Indo-Greeks – Byzantine Heritage + Indian Heritage in India
Þýsking – Norse hybridizing in Germany. Really don’t like this name, will happily take suggestions. I tried Tysklander first but hated it even more.
Mughal – Mongol heritage with Indo-aryan heritage in India
Added Divergents
Guanche – Berber on the Canary islands (though perhaps this should be a base culture, might add it in the future)
Jamts – In Jämtland diverging from North Germanic cultures
Norn – In the Northern Isles- Perhaps more properly a language, but see my note on Varangian above
