Ever wondered what it would be like to be cast back in time to the medieval era? Want to change the course of history as a knowlegable ruler aware of what the future may hold?
This is a mod designed for those who wish to change the flow of history, based on the perspective of you, the ruler. A traveller from another history shows up at your court. What you do from there may change the future of your realm and, possibly, the world.
This mod is mostly feature complete, but due to the many gameplay changes and interations, beta testing and feedback would be appreciated. Also, any writers wishing to improve the prose of events and descriptions are welcome to submit their edits to me. I am great at programming and creating interesting gameplay features, not so much at writing.
Mod main points:
Modern Character – Customize your character from the modern era (2020 pre-covid) with the full power of the Ruler Designer! You can also select from some pregenerated characters based on your ruler’s culture. Or have their stats and starting background chosen randomly. There are many different kinds of educational and occupational backgrounds to choose from, affecting what knowledge they bring with them into the past, and thus what innovations might be unlocked.
Innovations – Many new innovations have been added ranging from societal changes to various forms of industrialization. They can provide many benefits, though not everyone is quick to embrace new ways, especially those who have much to lose from new ideas and inventions!
Culture and Innovation Spread – The Modern culture is very advanced compared to most other cultures, however the traveller is the only member when they initially arrive. Concepts spread rather quickly, though they usually do not have any benefit by themselves; it is by the culture adopting Practices that they are utilized. Characters can also create Inventions and Material Formulae through Inspiration events.
Culture Head It is most advantageous to be the Culture Head of your culture or quickly become so, as it will allow you to direct the adoption of certain Practices implicated by the Concepts introduced by the traveller from another history.
Primary Job descriptions:
There are several jobs available with their own personal focuses, each with their own effective playstyles based on how they affect your realm’s advancement:
Retail Worker-Basic knowledge of modern concepts from high school education and working in a capitalist economy (wash hands, basic economics, bicycles, etc)-Baseline impact on society if certain concepts were known
Diplomat-international relations experience- will focus on statesmanship, alliances, and cultural reforms-Your many vassals and allies, swayed by your personal schemes, will follow you leading the people into a new age under the national banner
Military Officer-military leadership experience-will focus on logistics, organization, and developing the armies at your disposal-Armies of well supplied riflemen and artillery
CEO-practical business experience-will focus on economics, tax revenue, administration, and production of various materials-There will be lots of gold to spend on important construction projects and mercenary armies to defend your large domain
Intelligence Officer-intelligence analysis and agent handling- will focus on intruige, espionage techniques, and methods of interrogation and propoganda-Hostile schemes will be quite plentiful and easy to execute, and the populace will not easilly rebel or slip control
Surgeon-Practical medical experience-will focus on improving sanitation, lifespan, and treatment of diseases-There will be many more people alive that would have otherwise died or never been born
Compatibility
This mod strives to be as compatible as possible but some mechanics required overwriting certain vanilla files and entries. NOT Achievements compatible, unfortunately. Make sure this is after the required Lost Souls framework mod in the load order. I would recommend starting a new save when installing this mod.
