Description:
Short Lore Description

Long has the Sun has been a symbol of strength in the Fire Capital. One of those who proclaim to be its champion, Solarei (pronounced "Solar-ray") has been fighting the forces of darkness since time immemorium. Nobody is quite sure where Solarei came from or how old she really is, but they know one thing, she will continue to fight the good fight wherever evil shows its head. It is well known that Solarei draws her energy from the sun and can use it to fight tirelessly and can even resist aging due to its influence. But don’t call her to fight for political or imperial aspirations, because like the Sun, she doesn’t care.

As for her family tree, She is Sailee’s mother and Roekoko’s grandmother.

Gameplay Description

Solarei is a close range rushdown that is heavily inspired by multiple iterations of Captain Falcon and also tuned to be a bit slower and heavier. Think of her as an inbetween of Falcon and Gannon and then tuned for rival’s conventions and mechanics.

Pros

– Classic Falcon style gameplay adpated to Rivals conventions should feel familar to Falcon players
– Strong normals with good range.
– Easy to pick up and play.
– Her stage element allows her to do things out of rolls / airdodge that other characters simply cannot do, allowing her to catch opponents with a strong mixup.

Cons

– Stage element does not control space or threaten opponents directly.
– Stage element requires a large commitment to setup and is easy for opponent to remove.
– Has no projectile or zoning capability.
– No real disjoint.
– Is on the larger side but is not actually a heavyweight.

Tradeoffs

– Specials are less impactful than Falcon’s specials but are also less commital. They are easier to use in neutral compared to Falcon’s.
– Her Nspecial punch is not nearly as strong as the falcon’s, but is faster and places down a stage control element. It also bounces her in the air as a recovery mixup.
– She’s not super fast like falcon and she is not heavy. But she has good reach and kill power.
– No grabs. Daora stays the grab specialist, and this is for people who don’t want to grab. The Gunner character with no grabs is REAL.

Gimmick and Specials
Nspecial – Sun-Spot Punch

– Falcon punch styled move that places down a "sun spot".
– Punching again will destroy the old sun spot and create a new one.
– Has a small hop if done in the air to aid in mixup recovery like 64 Falcon.
– Not as strong as you’d think, but also it’s faster than you might think…

– Can be turned around if a back input is inputted within the first 10 frames. This turn around adds extra time to the move. Cannot double turnaround.

Field Gimmick – Sun Spot

– This will enable you to cancel Rolls and Airdodges into attacks / strongs / specials.
– Small cooldown on use.
– You will hear a sound effect and a visual pop when this abilty is used.
– Can only be used within the field.
– Does no damage or other effects.
– Opponent can hit it to despawn it.
– Can only have one out.

Fspecial – Sun Beam Boost

– Functions similarly to Falcon’s fspecial.
– Can ledge cancel the grounded version for momentum conversion.
– Will leave you in pratfall and with no momentum, use it wisely.

Dspecial – Sunset Kick

– Grounded version works similar to Belmont D-tilt. Input special again to do the 2nd part.

– Aerial Version is a quicker weaker Aerial Falcon Kick.
– Aerial Version Resets Djump like Melee Falcon

Uspecial – Sunrise Uppercut

– Multi hit recovery move styled after Belmont Uspec.
– Isn’t as strong as a Oly Uspec / Maypul Uspec / Wrastor Uspec, but it can kill if finishing a combo up high or at very high percents.
– Cannot fastfall pratfall, using this very high up could spell trouble for an opponent ready to punish on landing.
