Description:

Having played multiple Attila campaigns, I have become thoroughly tired of always facing the Sassanid juggernaut as the end game boss if you don’t start as a desert or Roman faction.

Eng game will be your rapidly expanding empire, some loose factions that survived the Huns with one or two territories, and that conglomeration of alliances and puppet states occupying the entire Middle East. My replays for my end game army compositions just show my best troops fighting of waves of cavalry and then weaker robed infantry. I understand the aesthetic of the desert troops due to the climate, but for end game replays they don’t look all that intimidating.

So, this mod nerfs the Sassanids and all their puppet states using the same unit roster. It sets all their units stats to 1 melee attack, 1 melee defense, 11 weapon damage, 1 morale, and 0 armor. In my experience playing campaigns with this active, the White Huns (who were always killed off in the first 20-30 turns) last till end game and keep the whole Middle East in a state of revolt. Also, which I had never seen before I made this, the Eastern Roman empire becomes the world’s greatest power. Since a lot of the revolts in the Sassanid’s territory go to Eastern Roman roster popup factions, using this mod basically turns the end game boss into an Eastern Roman conglomeration.

This is a welcome change of pace from the Sassanids as I personally think that the Roman roster has the best looking units of this game, especially when using the wonderful re-textures on the workshop. Since the Roman roster is also more melee-focused, end game siege battles will last longer and will look much better. If your empire is going to go up against another empire, the Eastern Roman roster looks wonderfully colored and detailed but the troops look my armored and veteran than the Sassanid’s robed roster (in my opinion).

NOTE:

The sole purpose of this mod is to stop the Sassanid Empire from being the final grind in your campaign. It does it by ruining their entire roster so that battles with them are no fun at all. The point is not to bother fighting them, letting Eastern Rome take them over and be the final grind instead.

PS:

I can do the exact same thing for the Huns. I have seen mods that try to remove the Huns infinite spawning script, gut people debate whether they still work. I can nerf the Huns in the exact same manner so that while they will still spawn, their units can’t fight at all. If there is any interest in this Sassanid mod I may do this for Huns.
