Sergeant-at-Arms Hero – By Gorilla and Lily
Protectors of fair Bretonnia, the Sergeant-at-Arms is here to lead your infantry and yeomen into battle
This mod adds a new hero to Bretonnia, the Sergeant-at-Arms. This unit is considered canon as of the release of the Old World, but the appearance of it is our own interpretation of it. He uses custom textures created by Lily and Dead Baron in collaboration with Gorilla, and has five variants giving them variation but still a consistent appearance.
If you use my Bretonnia Overhaul, I recommend using this companion mod.
The Sergeant-at-Arms is a weak hero, but through his traits and skills he can become far more powerful. He bolsters morale of nearby units which is especially useful for Peasant units. At a high level he can ride a warhorse into battle, an extremely rare honour for a peasant! (it is, of course, not barded. That would be a waste of good material.)
Sergeant-at-Arms unique features:
• Hero recruited from the Barracks chain.
• Extremely cheap recruitment and upkeep (for a hero) reminiscent of a Goblin Big Boss.
• Fights on foot or on horseback.
• Can use skills and items in custom battles.
• The Sergeant’s Orders skill bolsters the leadership and melee attack of nearby units.
• Has many new unique traits, such as Monster Slayer, Farmhand, Foot Squire and Large Hands!
• Can learn unique skills, each mutually exclusive from one another allowing for a lot of customisation and personality.
FAQ
Q: Why can’t I recruit the Sergeant-at-Arms?
A: You need Mixu’s Mixer mod, and I believe you may also need to start a new campaign.
Q: Why are my units taking so long to recruit?
A: That’s because you installed a mod called Immersive Bretonnia, its not being caused by this mod.
Q: Is this mod compatible with such and such mod?
A: If the mod alters vanilla Bretonnia units, buildings, effects or changes the peasant economy in any way, then you will likely experience issues. I don’t plan to continue to support and create compatibility mods, you are free to make them yourselves for the mod combination you want to see.
Q: Lily, are you going to add more units? Do you take requests?
A: I’m more likely to revamp and edit the existing units than create new ones. I do take commissions for making separate mods, but I’m fussy with what I work on and I’m not as well versed as other modders with script/lua and many other aspects of modding.

This is one of the most ambitious mods I have created yet, the time spent developing textures, variants, skills and traits certainly took longer than my unit pack, Repanse peasant queen mods and even the time it took to create the initial version of my Bretonnia overhaul. Making heroes takes time, and this wouldn’t have been possible without the help of Gorilla and Dead Baron, as well as feedback from a number of mod creators.
