Welcome to Lifevon
Lore:
Long after the Combine fell, entrepreneurs took over old infrastructure from humans long past, and Combine neglect. Revitalised and safe living zones now prevalent, these areas are now used by the nnewly formed CHD and HORV companies, with CHD focusing on old Combine infrastructure, local rules, and building maintenance, with HORV taking over most freight and passenger operations. CHD is still preferred in some places for their ability to carry heavy freight, HORV favoured passenger and light freight. HORV existed before as part of the Combine’s Human Operated Rail Vehicle division, and kept some workers for experience with them now gaining pay and power. With previously stolen blueprints and rolling stock, some citizens formed the CHD – Combine Handling & Distribution network – that was formed primarily of Combine designs, which were admired by many as being efficient despite their recent ruthless history, and such designs are now used all across the Lifevon and surrounding networks from neighbouring City centres.
Map history:
A map well over a year in development, from a failed gm_alifando, revitalised as gm_lifelon, and renewed as gm_lifevon, this map has had a lot of labour, love, and much more poured into it. There are some parts that are not perfect, but every step of the way the map has been built to ensure it works, all features I intended for each area are there (with some cuts when needed), and with tremendous feedback and some suggestions for things in the map, I have come to finalise gm_lifevon. I hope you will enjoy this map as much as I have had fun talking and discussing it over the time it has taken me to make it!
Features:
•Expansive road network all over the map
•Multiple ways to loop over the map, from the whole system itself, to the lower and middle zones
•Freeway based on the top zone exclusively for cars
•Doubling on the freeway is a runway and a taller skybox for flying vehicles who want a bit of freedom
•Lots of little areas to make your corner and have fun in
•Lots of build rooms from road, rail and pedestrian (found in Stark Bay Terminal)
•Half-Life 2 aesthetic in a bright mood
•Many many rooms in the map to explore
•Stations including passenger and freight
•Loading areas such as Longyard Harbour and Highbridge Point’s railway docking spots
•Good optimisation across the map when possible
•Many models used in the map freely available in the model pack required for the map, including trains in the secondary pack required for some decoration
•Lots of areas of different types, from busy, to dense, and open to fit your needs.
And potentially many more I can’t think of!
I really hope you enjoy this map. There may be one or two issues I have been unable to find through extensive testing, however I am unable to complete the map any further due to limitations. I hope you enjoy the map, as I certainly have had making it!
