Description:

Roads now come in three subtypes, Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary. The subtype is separate from level (Ancient, Classical, etc). And on that note, the levels have been renamed to "Trail", "Road", "Asphalt", and "Highway".

When an improvement is added to the map, tertiary roads will be created to connect it to the nearest road within the city’s borders. When a district is finished, secondary roads will automatically be built between it and the city, as well as other nearby districts.

Traders still create roads as they travel, and this is still the only way to create a Primary route.

As you advance through the eras, secondary and tertiary routes will always lag behind whatever level you’re at. Primary routes will always be at your current level.

Additionally, if you use the "More Lenses" mod, this will add two lenses for viewing the route types and levels.

The movement speeds of roads have not been adjusted.
