X – Accelerated Gene Recovery
The mod speeds up the genes recovery time. Supports vampire xenotypes from "Vanilla Races Expanded – Sanguophage" and "Alpha Genes".
In the vanilla game the genes recovery time is from 100 to 140 days for regular xenotypes and from 0.1 to 140 days for vampires (vampires have everything coded a bit differently, don’t ask me why the developer decided to introduce two different systems of the same process, I don’t understand it myself). With my mod, the gene recovery time for all xenotypes is between 15 and 30 days.
Explanation:
– There are already mods like this, why another one?
– Earlier I played with the "Adjustable Genes Regrowing Time" mod and it suited me fine (there is also "Faster Gene Recovery", but I didn’t like it). However, at some point I started to notice that the gene regrowing time is always 10 days (I played with the default settings) and very rarely less than 10 days for vampires.
As far as I understand, the "Adjustable Genes Regrowing Time" affects the pawn’s health directly, "trimming" the gene regeneration time to a customizable value. Thus, most pawns will always have this time limit maxed out (generating between 100 and 140 will never drop a value less than 10), while vampires will, but rarely. Thanks to this approach, the mod allows you to customize the gene recovery time, but the scatter disappears, there will always be a fixed value.
I wanted the gene regeneration mechanics to be as close to vanilla as possible, I just wanted faster regeneration and nothing more. So I wrote patches that rule the range directly (one patch for normal xenotypes, another patch for vampires). The 15-30 days range seemed to me the most balanced (for all, including vampires, I see no reason to make them any special, it’s just a rare xenotype). Also added patches for the most popular mods with vampires: "Vanilla Races Expanded – Sanguophage" and "Alpha Genes". There is no customization feature, if this is important to you, I recommend "Adjustable Genes Regrowing Time".
Tests and observations show that everything works as intended. The only thing is that sometimes for some reason the regrowing time falls below 15 (it happens to be 12,14 days). This is probably the influence of modifiers unknown to me. However, I don’t mind it. Overall, everything works fine.
