Useless Units Begone! Shades
Hi everyone.
This mod is the start of a series I might or might not continue, which is aimed at making obsolete units in the game useful. I’m starting with shades, a unit that is not bad but has two straight upgrades which make it have no niche in the game (meaning dual weapon and greatsword shades are simply better in everything). The aim is to give normal shades something unique to make them a consideration when building your army, even with dual and greatweapon shades around.
The new shades now behave much like the khainite assassin if it was useful in vanilla (other than buffing loyalty). They can fire while moving, have a shorter range and poison in both melee and ranged. They now deal heavy armor piercing in melee, although their daggers give them rather low overall damage. not very useful against unarmored hordes but can be used as a devastating flanker.
Most importantly though: they have one of the most badass animation-sets.
Update: increased melee damage for shades to 12non-ap/20ap damage to make them a true alternative.
While I was at it, I changed their looks to my personal liking, since I had to mess with their variantmesh anyway.
compatability: made for vanilla but shouldnt cause any crashes. if their looks are overwritten by, let’s say dryrain DE, they should still work. however, they will then hold their big crossbows one-handed.
obviously dont use with SFO and the like.
