Description:

This mod tries to better reflect the differences in weaponry used in Fall of the Samurai and implements some features from the mods "DarthMod" (DM) and "Land of the Rising Sun" (RSM).

NOTE: This mod is for Fall of the Samurai only. It changes general settings, which are not balanced for the Standard Campaign or Rise of the Samurai. If you want to play these campaigns, I recommend to turn off the mod beforehand. Also this is a stat mod and will most likely not work with any other mod that affects unit stats, adds units or changes basically anything gameplay related.

This mod reduces unit sizes for most units. If you do not like this change, I offer this variant: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1628569270

Weapons:
-Reduction of firing range for musket-using units.
-Shogunate (and Republic) troops are now limited to muskets for their early Line Infantry units.
-Reloading speed of weapons and artillery were adjusted to realistic levels (front-loaders are way slower to reload).
-Fire arrows are less accurate and deal less damage.

Combat:
-Combat is slower due to lower accuracy of ranged weapons and increased melee defences of all units.
-Unit sizes are smaller. The Boshin war did not see major battles and companies at the time were generally only 100 men strong. Big units like the Levies and common Line Infantry retain their 200 men size.
-Fatigue is gained and lost faster (based on RSM).
-Moral adjustments. Units should now be more focused on their luck in combat instead of the tide of the battle (based on RSM).

Units:
-Rebalanced all unit stats, their costs and in some cases the building requisites. They are balanced into 5 Tiers: Levies < Early Line Infantry < Special Units < Late Line Infantry Units < Elite Units
-Clan-specific units are less diverse between clans.
-Higher upper limits for limited units (3 -> 10).
-Adjusted effects for Experience and General Stars.
-Katana Samurai are no longer buildable (they show up in castle defense).
-Shogitai now use bows, although they are still great in a melee.
-Spear wall is back!

Campaign:
-AI adjusted(based on DM).
-Autoresolver adjusted (based on DM).
-Builing times increased for modern units (except Levies).
-Increased taxes (half-step up).
-Slightly increased garrison sizes.
-Larger area of control of ships and settlements.
-Replenishment rate lowered. Instead modern and traditional recruitment buildings will increase replenishment rate locally.
-Advanced units can march slightly farther.

Buildings:
-Inn- and Workshop-chains have adjusted incomes and happiness-modifiers.
-Defence buildings buffed:
->Matchlock tower is now actually a rifle tower and has almost Sharpshooter range.
->Building Costs halved.
->They grant 1 Garrison Infantry.
-Legendary Samurai Dojo grants all units built in that province a small boost to Charge and Melee Attack.

Technologies:
-Some of the weaker Technologies were buffed.

On the to-do list:
-Ships. They are basically unchanged, except for their costs.
-Changing the base kill chance of melee. The current increase of Melee Defence is just a workaround for this.
-Adjusting the unit sizes for the units every clan starts with.
-Implementing the changes into the game ui (tooltips and the like do not always mention everything important).
-Getting the AI to focus on buying GOOD units. I feer this one might be impossible without CAs documentation…

If you encounter any problems, then please leave a comment. Also feel free to comment if you disagree with my changes, especially due to better knowledge of the time period.
