Description:

Defenders of the North Complete
——————————-
Pushed to the edge of civilization by the Goblins and Orcs, the hearty people of the Northern Alliance are making a stand against their foes. Help them in building a town that can withstand the onslaught that they know awaits them!

This simple mod pack is designed for the NA and focusses on their more military and practical way of life. Taking advantage of the abundant rock in the area, they embark on protecting themselves from both their enemies and the harsh environment, but they will be constantly concerned with resources, especially food, and must huddle together for warmth while building quickly, trying to stay close to protect one another and conserve energy. Some essentric traders have been spotted and are looking for fresh vegetables, so survival must be balanced with making friends, and hopefully some allies. Prepare for the long winter, as it is unforgiving and limits what can be accomplished.

———————

Different from the "Chosen of the Desert" mod, this pack has a town that is meant to grow over time with a discrete plan in mind, continuing to use what works, but not afraid to rethink where appropriate. Where it makes sense, some buildings are quite large and multi-functional, while others are small, and purpose driven. Be prepared to mine, as the primary material is rock, and is needed in great quantity, especially for the T2 wall and T3 Quarters. Each template is numbered as a suggestion to the build order.

The total capacity of the town is:
Tier 1 – 12 hearthlings, although it can be done quickly with only 10 easily
Tier 2 – 21 hearthlings, although all buildings are easily built with 19 easily
Tier 3 – 30 hearthlings, although can be accomplished with 24

Contents:
Tier 1
#1 – Road template, templates 2 & 3 are in the middle on either side of the road
#2 – Quarters for 12 pers, along with a large dining room. Small outdoor hearth point
#3 – Stronghold that functions as a rally point and storage area
#4 – Mason’s Workshop
#5 – Kitchen
#6 – Weaver
#7 – Pottery Shop
#8 – Smithy
#9 – A basic outer wall that will focus foes to either end of the town

Tier 2
#1 – Road expansion template, this connects to the existing road and provides a space for a shrine
#2 – The Wall. Requiring over 250 stone to complete, it sets the bounds of your town, but takes a large amount of effort
#3 – Naturalists workshop that incorporates a herbalist into the weaver shop
#4 – Stonemason’s Guild that partners two masons with the new potter
#5 – Garden area for the herbalist, complete with gnome sentries!
#6 – New Quarters for 9 hearthlings, uses the old template but gives people more space, and upgrades the decor
#7 – Manufactory for the blacksmith and an engineer
#8 – Carpenter Shop for this emerging trade

Tier 3
#1 – Keep for 8 warriors, replaces the Stronghold and also has a large amount of storage space
#2 – Dining Hall, with seating for 14 hearthlings, features a kitchen, along with a storage area for food
#3 – Barn, with fenced off area for 2-3 animals
#4 – Traveller’s Hostel for visitors to the town, and has a market stall
#5 – New Quarters for 13 hearthlings
#6 – Geomancy Shop for this intriguing new skill

Notes:
– This template pack features items from ACE, and as such, it is required for this pack to function. Each building has been tested with ACE alone, with no observed issues, so let me know if you encounter any. If there are any "red block" building errors (rarely seen so far), building a ladder to the block should resolve the issue. Occasionally, hearthlings will need rescue as their friends will mischievously remove their ladders while building.

-Tier 1 and 2 of "Defenders of the North" will be removed from the Steam Workshop in one week. Some of the T1 and T2 buildings were tweaked)

-Tier 3 of "Chosen of the Desert" is still delayed as I try to figure out some problems with the building concept. The Ascendancy mod "Rebirth of an Empire" is being developed, but will only be released as a completed whole)
