Audi 80 B2 1.6
Adds two sedan cars: passenger and police. A total of 7 colors are available. This version represents the 1984 restyling. The model was assembled at a plant in West Germany (Ingolstadt) and Japan (Tokyo). In total, more than one and a half million copies of the B2 model were produced.
Engine:
In 78-79, the Audi 80 was transferred to the B2 platform (Type 81). Audi continued to use «80» as a marque in Europe. The body design of the Audi 80 B2 was developed by Giorgetto Giugiaro. Although a 4-door model was usually ordered, a 2-door Audi 80 model was also produced. An estate model (Avant) was not available, as this niche was filled by the Volkswagen Passat.
The B2 platform turned out to be quite universal, its components were common or were also used on the Audi Coupé, Audi Quattro and Audi Sport Quattro models, which were able to enhance the company’s image in the eyes of customers, including thanks to the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system, which has proven itself well in various types of auto racing.
In 1984, the model underwent a slight update: the taillights now resembled the Audi 100 Type 44, the rear and front bumpers, trunk lid, headlights and some interior trim elements were changed.
