Survival: War Stories
Another chapter begins. Longer and more challenging Father’s Promise dlc with alternate endings. And all the gameplay changes from Survival: Second Chapter and Harsh Winter already included.
Mod fully compatible with Father’s Promise dlc. Support all languages.
————————————————–
IMPORTANT: This mod technically doesn’t need any of the dlc to work, but to be safe you should’ve either Father’s Promise and/or the Season Pass. Also, make sure you disable all other mods.
I highly recommend “Music” by toomanynights. Very fitting with the bleak atmosphere of this mod.
————————————————–

– New playable character: Adam from Father’s Promise DLC (replaces Marko in all scenarios)
– New Father’s Promise story, more challenging and about two times longer (cut content)
– New sets of locations using two locations from "Father’s Promise" dlc (can be forced by checking "War stories Mode" on the selection screen)
– New ending events for quests which didn’t have one (Brothel, Construction Site, Hotel, Quiet Town)
– Alternate portraits for Roman and Bruno, and cleaner portraits ( https://imgur.com/a/fIHkP )
– Lots of small gameplay changes to make the game more unforgiving overall:
– Up to six dwellers at a time inside the shelter (instead of four)
– Trader Franko’s been nerfed (he only comes once in a while and doesn’t carry much materials)
– Cannot see exactly what you can find at each location on the city map
– Most visual cues have been disabled (character positions, noise made and hp bars)
– Scarcer resources in all scenarios, especially the ones unlocked last (bottom row on select screen)
– All dwellers start and join in worst shape than usual (they are either tired, sick or wounded)
– Crafting high quality meds requires more med ingredients but less herbs
– Making a second heater requires having upgraded the first one
– Both the basic and upgraded heater are about 20% less efficient
– Dwellers recover more slowly from exhaustion (both in bed and when sleeping at night)
– Dwellers are more often sad/depressed and have more chance to develop traumas (like infighting, addiction withdrawal, etc…)
– Killing many soldiers has more of a negative effect (stil a lot less than killing bandits though)
– Visitors come earlier to the shelter and give less items than usual (quest rewards are unchanged)
– And finally some fixes to the game:
– All scenarios are available from the start, no need to unlock them again if you’ve lost your save
– To compensate for heaters being less efficient, dwellers don’t always get sick when it’s too cold
– Single meals need less water to be made so they’re actually worthwhile over the large meal option
– Fixed locations from Father’s Promise getting incorrectly chosen in default secnarios
– Fixed one map that didn’t have the hospital and others not having any of the new locations
– Fixed an event that was almost impossible to complete (the two kids and their sick mother)
– Fixed quite a few typos found in the game, thanks to Cetoiscini (english only):link
– Materials needed at workshops are listed in the same order for easier reading
– Children don’t get instantly sad or depressed every time bandits attack the shelter
– Likewise, dwellers are not always content when there is one or more children around
– Father’s Promise: bandits cannot steal important tiems in the shelter anymore
All features present in this mod are from Survival: First/Second Chapter, except the disabled visual cues (Second Chapter only), and less efficient heaters (from Harsh Winter).

Known Bugs:
– Text like names and intros aren’t displaying corrrectly for some. It affects all mods changing the text in some way. The only known way to fix it is to repack the localization files yourself. For that, first you need to download the fix (download link on Reddit), extract the folder in "C:Program Files (x86)SteamSteamAppscommonThis War of MineMods", then open the tools to repack the mod (blue arrow icon at the top). The fix will automatically be applied when launching the game.
– Kids get stuck when talking to each other and only one of them can learn anything (game doesn’t support having more than one too well).
– Amelia can’t be interacted with in Adam’s scenario since I disabled the events and I can’t remove her entirely. But at least you get a functional new shelter and a bridge, that’s something…
– Characters talk about Amelia in the new locations: all the new locations are scripted for the dlc story, nothing I can do to change that.
Details on Father’s Promise’s new story:
In a first draft, SPOILERS Amelia wasn’t kidnapped but disappeared, only to be find by a woman, Nina. She talks to Adam over the radio and urges him to join Amelia and her. After exploring the same locations that we got now, Adam stumbles upon the old church, where he finally finds his child’s grave, and understands all of this was just an illusion he created. He can then either choose to place Amelia’s plushie on the grave, or kill himself in hope to join his family (player’s choice).
This mod adds back this new character, Nina, and part of the dialogues between her and Adam on the radio have been rewritten to fit into the story.
What’s next:
– New features brought with Father’s Promise to all ‘Survival’ scenarios (in progress)
– Alternates scenarios for the last two This War of Mine: Stories dlc as soon as they are releasd
– Real Survival mode in "Endless War" where the goal is to survive against waves of enemies
Required DLC:
These DLC should be installed in order to use this item.
