Description:

This mod is a slight overhaul of planets generation.

Built-in support for the following modded biomes mods:
here

While nothing happen if you use this mod with a modded planet type that is not listed, that biome will have the same number of dungeons that would have in vanilla. Planet size will still be modded.

Not compatible with Frackin Universe

Compatible with More Planets Mod

Lite version here (same but with vanilla orbitals around gas giants and microdungeons spawn intact)

Same mod but with vanilla planet size here

Patch for vanilla dungeon rates: here

  • It changes the planet size as follows, making them larger:

The Navigation console will refer to small planets as medium, medium planets as large and large planets as huge. This seems to be hardcoded and determined by the size of the planets in blocks.
Tiny planet size is defined in celestial.config in vanilla Starbound but it seems it’s unused as no planet or moon will spawn of that size. This mod makes use of the tiny size as well.

  • Makes the gas giants in the sky backdrop bigger when you visit a planet
  • Gas giants have a 80% probability of having each orbital filled with a satellite (versus 50% in vanilla)
  • Gas giants have a maximum 6 orbitals of satellite around them (versus 3 in vanilla)
  • Change the probability of microdungeons to 65% (30% is the vanilla value) and of rare microdungeons to 18% (from 8% in vanilla)
  • Spawns more dungeons around planets, including Ocean planets.
  • Dungeons number on Desert planets are capped at [2,4] (2 minimum 4 max) for all planet sizes.
  • Dungeons number on Scorched City planets are capped at [1,2] (1 minimum 2 max) for all planet sizes.

It’s helpful having Starmap Zoom Slider to zoom in and out the navigation console otherwise some planets around gas giants won’t be reachable

Fully Compatibile with Truespace
The only difference you will find with this mod is the fact that with TrueSpace you will find satellites of any kind orbiting a planet, not only Moons, and they will spawn of the Small and Medium size but when a Moon is spawned it will be Tiny and Small.
In Vanilla you will find planets as satellites only around Gas Giants

Meant to be used as a Overhaul of Vanilla Starbound

As I made this mod for myself but decided to share it with everyone it supports just the planet types I play, contact me in the discussion above to request compatibility for other planet biomes mods.

Ideally it works best to have a fresh universe from the start as this mod change the seed of generation of stars, but you can install this mod anyway if you don’t want to start over, just be sure to backup your whole storage/universe folder, especially universe.chunks file inside storage/universe before installing this mod.

To see the changes this mod make travel to a unexplored region of the map.

If you lose universe.chunks or it gets corrupted as stars generation is different with this mod installed you won’t lose your planets and builds but they might be shown differently on the navigation console (like you will be shown a volcano planet instead of your old lush planet but when you will beam down it’s still the old lush planet) and/or you could be in an invalid coordinate of space (meaning you are in a place where there used to be a star system and now there’s nothing in it and the game crashes)

Screenshots show a Navigation Console modded with More Planets info a great mod that I recommend.

Gas Giants Screenshot are made with the Celestial- Cosmos mod installed, another mod that I recommend. Without it gas giants will be still bigger than vanilla-sized gas giants but they will have the usual vanilla look.

Yes…I’m a human and I drive a Novakid ship…. u.u
