Indian Missions Expanded by Willowman69
Before I begin the preamble I should note that since I can’t reply to comments here directly it’s probably better to send a DM (or add me as a friend, I don’t mind) to me if you’re interested. Since I’m the only person working on this and have so many side things going on it’ll make it easier for me to know what’s working and what isn’t.
Some background. I’ve been playing the game off and on for about 10 years now, picking it up a bit more over the past 5-6 years and I have approximately 5,000 hours in the game, on steam at least.
The reason for this mod’s existence is because I enjoy the mechanics of mission trees, but I always felt that they’re a bit bland in India, and considering it’s probably going to be years before Paradox actually gets around to India again, I decided to have a go at making them a bit more interesting.
Fair to say at the moment that you will need all of the major DLC’s and be on the latest patch (1.36.1 at the time of creation). Considering this mod is an early version there will be bugs, or unfinished descriptions and localisations, not to mention balance issues and other adjustments to be made, so at the moment consider this mod a beta. Or at best, an early alpha.
Just a disclaimer: I can’t guarantee that this version (a la the Steam version) will work. If you’re having issues just post a comment and I can link a mediafire link with the mod version that works.
With the preamble out of the way.
Nations who have had their mission trees changed are:
For India: (latest mission trees first)
Punjab and Sirhind:
Sirhind gets new missions, which in the early game focuses on breaking free from Delhi which gives you a temporary bonus to make further conquest easier, or if you are defensively minded it can help here too. Then the missions open up for conquering the rest of India. The option is still available to form Delhi if you like and use their mission tree which is largely unchanged as of the time of writing this. However the real interesting changes are with Punjab.
Punjab: New missions for conquering India. New events around the Sikh religion (still in testing phase)
They get a mission for improving relations with Persia which eventually leads to a mission which unlocks the Qizilbash estate, this is a place holder for the time being while I work out how to make a new unit which will be the Misls Cavalry unit which plays events from the real world which I’m not going to go into here because of word limit. There are missions in there around trade and development.
Nepal and Nepalese Princedom:
New government type for Nepal: Borrows elements from the Prussian Monarchy and Military Dictatorship government types with different modifiers.
A quick description of the mission tree: In the early game your task is to unify the Nepal area and then further push into Tibet, then build up an army to take on Bengal and then eventually conquer the rest of India from there with a mission to create Punjab as a march, and Deccan as a vassal. There are some missions in there around conquering China and taking the Mandate, as well as conquering Persia and fighting the Ottomans.
Mewar- The mission tree is mostly the same except I have changed some modifiers to make them feel more noteworthy and to help them punch a little bit more above their weight. This is not historically accurate (mostly) but personally I really like the nation and their existing mission tree, so I expanded upon it.
Some of the mission rewards are centred around acquiring more Rajput regiments and making them stronger, as well as improving their cavalry and making them cheaper, and just conquering western India, improving your trade and the gold mine in Mewar (later renamed to Udaipur)
Tiny update: I think I’ve fixed the Jawar Silver Mine bug, should be working now.
Rajputana- Entirely new mission tree. They also have updated national ideas.
I’ve added some missions around making Japan a subject and improving relations with Korea to further improve upon artillery strength and siege ability. Added missions for improving combat ability and getting lots of Rajputs.
As well as some missions around conquering Nepal and Tibet and a mechanic related to inviting the Dalai Lama to your country which gives you some strong effects, like a free extra golden era and extending the lifespan and abilities of your rulers. Pair that with staying as Hindu and not converting to Sikhism and you get some really strong monarchs for a long time. Furthermore, I have added some missions around taking certain idea groups which is intended to make them less awful but also to make Rajputana feel more unique in a way.
There is a chain of missions around conquering Burma, Indo-china and eventually China itself and claiming the Mandate of Heaven from Ming or whoever else has it.
Not to mention Elephants, and also diamonds.
Bharat/Hindustan (Still a work in progress, taking a break from them to work on other nations) – Similarly to Mewar and Rajputana, I will make separate missions trees for them but for the time being it is just an overhaul/expansion. Long story short is that the missions here are centred around pushing for making a global Indian Empire. This is in part inspired by the Sun Never Sets achievement.
Mughals – Not a whole lot here at the moment, except a mission similar to Russia where you have the option to adopt western technology group, which is in part inspired by the idea that Mughals had in real life where they were trying to compete with western invaders. As well as some tweaks here and there to make it a bit more interesting. Definitely more to come here, however considering Mughals have a large mission tree it could take a while.
Bengal – The changes here are mainly inspired by trying to make AI Bengal focus more on India, because in every game I see them try to conquer Burma which is a bit silly because historically Bengal went west not east, but anyway. The changes to the mission tree are to make the requirement for unlocking the mission to conquer Burma be harder and require them to have a large portion of India first. Again, some play testing needed here to help with balancing.
Bahmanis – The changes here are minor and just tweak a few bonuses here and there and give some interesting bonuses for conquering Persia.
Orissa- some minor changes here too, almost not worth mentioning right now. More to come
Outside of India:
Dai Viet – My inspiration here was to make Dai Viet a bit more interesting and arguably stronger, by giving them extra vassal force limit contribution for having subjects, and make the missions assist with management of vassals. More to come here at some stage.
Planned changes:
Add a new government type that’s focused on India being the Emperor of China, inspired by Japan and Persia’s government mechanics. As well as some Indian exclusive Decrees, and possibly some related to Dai Viet and Ayutthaya as well as other nations in that area of the world.
New missions for the rest of most of India. (at the moment I am currently working on Vijayanagar and Bahmanis and they will hopefully be done by the time I upload my latest update)
A unique unit for Punjab as well as a new mission tree. (The mission tree here is mostly done, I’m just play testing at the moment and should have an update live at some stage)
New Sikh religion mechanics centred around the Gurus.
New missions for areas around India, for instance the Spice Islands and nations in Indochina.
