Description:

This submod lets you use my Chaos Visual Overhaul mod together with the amazing SCM: Tribes of the North mod. I have tried to combine the aesthetics of both mods. It was especially important to me to draw a stronger visual distinction between Norscan and Kurgan tribes while still retaining the original TotN assets. Therefore, this is more of a small reskin than a pure compatibility mod.

Changes

Characters:

  • resized Harald Whyrlas and Kolsveinn to a more reasonable size (in my personal opinion)

Skeggi

  • Norscan base look (for example like vanilla Berserker and Champions)
  • Pants removed (due to tropical climate)
  • Mix of vanilla Norscan and leopard skirts
  • Champions also have golden tattoos
  • added a few lizard skulls and accessories
  • removed all lizardmen weapons (explanation: I found it unrealistic for the Norscans to replace all their weapons with loot weapons, which are also of poorer quality. Therefore they use their usual metal weapons again).

Kurgan Tribes (Dolgan, Kul and others – see below)

  • Kurgan base look (for example like vanilla Marauders and Horsemasters)
  • my head and body variants added and mixed with the TotN variants for visual consistency

Yusak

  • Kurgan base look (for example like vanilla Marauders and Horsemasters)
  • added my body variants for champions and mixed with the TotN variants for visual consistency

Sarl

  • added pants to the basic Marauders

Tribe of the Wolf

  • Norscan base look (for example like vanilla Berserkers and Champions)
  • added pants to the basic Marauders

Aesling

  • added pants to the basic Marauders
  • added more beard variety to champions
  • hair and beard have a subtle crimson colour as described in the lore

Baersonling

  • Norscan base look (for example like vanilla berserkers and champions)
  • added pants and my head variants to the basic Marauders (only blonde hair as described in the lore)

Varg

  • added pants to the basic Marauders
  • removed the full Forsaken body variants, Champions have some variants with mutated arms instead (explanation: some Marauders looking straight up like Forsaken didn’t feel right to me. Therefore I toned down the mutated look.)

Bjornling

  • Norscan base look (for example like vanilla Berserker and Champions)
  • added more and different unhelmeted head variants to the basic Marauders
  • new variants for Berserkers

Bonus: Skaeling

  • added unique variants for the Marauders, basically Graeling Marauders with a Khorne theme

Bonus: Mounted Units (campaign only)
The original mod has no unique variants for mounted units and I understand and respect why. I chose to work on them nonetheless. This is achieved by creating 72 new units (identical clones of vanilla units) for each tribe. The downside of this is that confederated units will keep the look of the faction that recruited it and might look out of place in your armies. In that case simply disband and re-recruit. Starting units are also unchanged for compatibility reasons.
Included are:

  • Marauder Horsemen (both variants)
  • Marauder Horsemasters
  • Marauder Chariots
  • Marauder Icewolves Chariots
  • War Mammoths

All Kurgan factions also use the Kurgan variants (especially Cathay’s Kurgan Incursion armies and LCCP’s Tokmar, Khazag and Ravenblessed tribes). Firebrand’s Slavers use Graeling variants since they are Graeling slavers in the lore.

Possible Issues:

If some of the variants aren’t showing up for you, make sure your unit details are set to Ultra.

Compatibility:

Should be compatible with everything that doesn’t change the visuals of the same units.
Save-game compatible.
