Description:

This mod add the ability to build the improvement : Motte-and-bailey Fort to workers of every civilization, adding another fortification option to the game.

Features:
  • Makes The ‘Motte-and-bailey Fort’ (From the 1066 Scenario by Fireaxis) available to workers of any civilization in normal games
  • Set the fortification’s benefit to fit in the standard games scale:
-Any unit stationed within a Motte-and-Bailey fort receives a 25% defensive strength bonus. Additionally, any enemy unit which ends its turn next to it takes 1 damage (10 damage in Gods and Kings Scale).
-The Motte-and-bailey Fort has the same terrain restriction as normal forts and requires the ‘Engineering’ tech
  • The AI will use the improvement.

Notes:
  • The Motte-and-bailey was only present in the 1066 scenario of the Danemark DLC, with this mod, its now incorporated in normal games (DLC still required)
  • Visuals and icons were properly added as well as Civilopedia entries. (see screenshots)
Heres some historical infos about these forts:
‘A motte-and-bailey fort is a fortification with a wooden or stone keep situated on a raised earthwork called a motte, accompanied by an enclosed courtyard, or bailey, surrounded by a protective ditch and palisade. Relatively easy to build with unskilled, often forced labour, but still militarily formidable, these forts were built across northern Europe from the 10th century onwards, spreading from Normandy and Anjou in France, into the Holy Roman Empire in the 11th century. The Normans introduced the design into England and Wales following their invasion in 1066. Motte-and-bailey forts were adopted in Scotland, Ireland, the Low Countries and Denmark in the 12th and 13th centuries. Motte-and-bailey earthworks were put to various uses over later years; in some cases, reused as military defences during the Second World War.’
